Sherry Makerney is an LPGA Class A Teaching Professional with over twenty years of experience teaching and coaching golfers of all levels.
Sherry is currently the Head Golf Coach at Wellesley College, where she has built a competitive NCAA Division III Women’s golf program since taking over in 2007.
Sherry began her career in 2000 as a Golf Professional at the Kapalua Golf Club in Maui, Hawaii. Then returned to her home state of Texas where she worked for the Chuck Cook Golf Academy and later the Hank Haney Golf Ranch in Austin, Texas. Sherry then moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where she taught for Golf Digest Schools. In addition to coaching at Wellesley College, Sherry has been a teaching professional at Wellesley Country Club since 2008.
A 1999 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, Sherry earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration. As a student-athlete, Sherry was captain of the team, earned fourteen top ten finishes, and was a two-time MVP.
Makerney now calls Sandwich, Massachusetts home and is excited to establish herself in the golf community. “My passion is introducing this great game to new golfers and helping experienced players reach their full potential.”
